Introducing Ben – Head of Development at Rooost... and what he brings to the business!

Ben was born and grew up in Rugby. His father was a Prison Officer (now retired) and mother is a community nurse. With his father's profession, it meant growing up with three prisons on his doorstep – not literally, but they were just a few fields away. Growing up in the countryside meant he had the freedom to roam the nearby farms and fields with his friends – just making sure he was home when the streetlights came on. There were a few times when this didn’t happen as the many football matches got too intense and meant staying out slightly later. His Mum wasn’t best pleased having to come and find him from time to time.

Ben always had a keen interest in sport – mainly rugby –playing from the the young age of 8 until he was 22. All through school he was very indecisive as to the career path was going to take – changing from wanting to be a professional rugby player to a PE Teacher. It was later during his education and College when he realised that becoming a professional rugby player wasn’t going to happen – and the passion for property started to kick in!

After completing College, he got a job at one of the local estate agents as a negotiator in Lettings. He really enjoyed seeing all the different properties and understanding how to rent them out and get the most return on your money. After a year, he moved to another company in Coventry. It is here he moved into sales and matched the record for most properties sold in his first month.

For just over a year he consistently hit and exceeded his sales targets culminating in being headhunted to join a start-up company that specialised in managing properties for Serviced Accommodation.

Through learning how the Serviced Accommodation market operated and how exciting the opportunity would be, he helped grow one of the largest management companies in the country at the time. After being employed on a programme that permitted him to acquire shares in the company – and the company was sold just prior to the COVID pandemic arriving in the UK.

Ben then had a few well deserved months off after a very busy few years and was subsequently headhunted for a second time to join Rooost to work with new prospects to find accommodation for their workforces who will be working away from home.
