Rooost in the north

The north of England is generally considered to be inclusive of the following counties:

  • Cheshire
  • Cumbria
  • County Durham
  • Greater Manchester
  • Lancashire
  • Merseyside
  • Northumberland
  • Tyne and Wear
  • Yorkshire (North, East Riding, South and West).

It is also considered that some areas of the follwing have Northern characteristics and are included as satellites of Northern cities:

  • Derbyshire
  • Lincolnshire
  • Nottinghamshire
  • Staffordshire

With a population of more than fifteen million (including over three million of which living in rural towns, villages and countryside) the north of England has something to offer for everyone – vibrant cities; vast expanses of amazing countryside; coastal islands; quiet villages and suburban localities, there are very good reasons to consider moving here for work – whether that be permanently or as a contractor!

One of the delights of working in the North of England is the less expensive standard of living. The living costs in most northern cities are around 10% cheaper than those in other popular UK cities. In fact, living in the north is supposedly 30% cheaper than setting up home in London!

Just some of the attractions are the festival culture, great public transportation, beautiful cities with lots of history, lots of pubs and nightlife, great universities… etc.
